The Beast of Bray Road (2005) Based on actual accounts of werewolf sightings in Walworth County, Wisconsin, the film follows a local sheriff who is fi. A German Shepherd with mange and a skeletal right foreleg. It looks like someone’s German Shepherd out for a stroll. It’s a short watch already (just about an hour long), but it will fly by, and an impressive number of the re-tellings are downright chilling (one particular segment about a static camera set in a field really freaked me out). Said Seth Breedlove of Small Town Monsters, whose company produced the documentary on the Bray Road Beast: I could’ve come up with something way better than this. It’s a fascinating watch, made even more entertaining by the many artistic representations throughout (both in dramatic re-enactments as well as artwork of the beast itself). They focus on Linda Godfrey - a reporter who got drawn in to the genuine fear and concern of the townspeople - and John Fredrickson - a retired Walworth County animal control officer who was present for several of the investigations, as well as some members of the Bray family. In the early 1990s, a rural Wisconsin community called Elkhorn becomes the centre of a series of real-life werewolf sightings. It was brought to us by Small Town Monsters, a production company started by Seth Breedlove that specializes in exploring bizarre creatures and cryptids (they’ve got several other films, including one about The Flatwoods Monster and Mothman, who I actually talk about in my podcast’s first episode). The Beast of Bray Road is a hairy humanoid with canine features that was sighted near the towns of Delavan and Elkhorn in Wisconsin, mainly during the 1990s.
